It’s now been a whole week since Lloyds amputation and he is doing well.

He started responding more to play last night. He has a little cat tent that my boss bought him after his third op last year and whenever he’s playing with a string toy he always gets in the tent and attacks the toy from inside. Last night he kept getting in the tent which meant he wanted to play, and play he did!

We also had lots of purrs in the middle of the night!!! None so far during the day but it’s a huge improvement and he is looking and acting much more like my Lloydy. I even got voluntary cuddles today on the sofa which literally made my week!

I went to work today but only for a few hours and kept checking on him on the camera, but he was fine just slept the whole time. When I got home he got up and wanted to come downstairs. He still amazes me how he gets around. He even manages his litter tray surprisingly well.

The vets called me today to check up on him and also to thank me for some cupcakes I sent, just a small thank you for looking after him so well. Taking him to the specialist referral hospital was always such a horrible experience but it’s a world away from taking him to his local vet where they are so caring and kind to him.

So we’re doing well, I’m beyond pleased to see his personality coming back through and looking forward to the stitches coming out and him getting back to ‘normal’

Still no purrs from Lloydy. I think I got about 2 seconds out of him last night when I let him get in the bed. He has been a little bit more active today. I tried to encourage him to play gently with one of those fishing rod toys, he wasn’t overly interested but he did indulge me a couple of times. 

I called the vet and she said to keep an eye on him but said it’s not unusual given what he has been through for him to be a bit down. 

I left him on his own today for about half an hour to pop to the bank and bare in mind I have barely left him at all since he’s been back home, all he has really done is lay about. As soon as I got into the village I checked on him on the camera and there he was scratching at the door to his room to come out 🤦🏼‍♀️ So my little break outside enjoying the sunshine was short lived and it was back home to let him out and watch to make sure he didn’t hurt himself. He wanted to come downstairs and look out the window, scratching away at his cat flap but I’m happy that he is up and about and keen to get outside.

I’m going into work tomorrow for a few hours so will see how he gets on then. 

Not much to report over the last couple of days. Lloyd has very much kept to himeself and today he seems quite sad. Have been trying to get a purr out of him but nothing. He’s still eating thankfully. I don’t know if this is just part of the recovery or if having that fall has changed his mood, because he was purring a lot that morning before it happened. Just letting him be for now but keeping a close eye on him at the same time. Hoping he snaps out of it soon.

Just back from the vets and she is really pleased with how he is looking. He’s been for a poop too now!! Whoop!! 🥳 it’s funny how excited you can be by cat poop! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Had a real scare this morning, Lloyd was sleeping on his bed and had twisted and turned his way right to the edge, must have woke himself up falling off which completely freaked him out, he fell off the bed and then flipped out trying to get his cone off! I was in the next room and just heard all this crashing and banging and ran in to find his cone ripped to bits, him breathing heavily by the door very angry with a huge puffed up tail and a few specs of blood on the floor. Frightened the life out of me. Luckily, thanks to the camera I was able to see what happened so have moved his heated blanket to the middle of the bed so he hopefully won’t sleep on the edge again. And have barely taken my eyes off him all day. It looks like the blood came from his claws in his bag legs where he’s pulled at the cone and was only a tiny bit as the vet checked all his stitches and said they look absolutely fine. I’ve also managed to sew the cone back together too so he doesn’t have to wear the horrible plastic one.

His Nana Jackie (or ‘Auntie’ as she prefers 😊) came round to see him today and brought him a soft toy and his uncle Rupert brought round some lovely treats too so he has certainly been very spoilt! 

Taking him back to the vets on Friday next week to hopefully have some of the stitches taken out.

Lloyd has been ok today. Quite quiet which I guess is to be expected. He came and sat on my lap for a bit earlier so I’m taking that as he forgives me. He kept trying to lick at his stitches so we put his collar thing on him that he had for his previous ops. I don’t think he is that keen on it but it’s better than a cone and way better than an infection.

I sat with him for most of the day and when I wasn’t with him I put him in his room which has a camera set up so I can keep an eye on him on a little monitor. 

He went for another wee in the early hours but still no poops, he didn’t go at vets either so hasn’t been since Tuesday morning so keeping a close eye on that. We actually have a toilet chart for him as he was having so many problems before! 

My mum just came round with some flowers for him 💙 and get well Cards and my sister popped in too with my nephew who loves Lloyd and gave him lots of treats.

He’s going back for post op check tomorrow so will update then.
